Supporting the British Academy
With your support more young people can get the opportunity to receive high quality education based on the Heavenly Doctrine.
The British Academy has an endowment of around £ 13000. We use the proceeds from this fund in several ways:
- To bring highly qualified ministers and teachers to the UK for the Summer School.
- Give financial assistance to students of limited means.
- Procure teaching materials and sports equipment.
With your help we aim to keep improving the quality of the summer school, as well as assisting even more students to come and receive invaluable religious education.
In 2008 the British Academy spent more money than what was received from contributions and endowments, and ended the year with a small operating deficit. This year we have already taken some steps to limit our expenses, without compromising on quality. However, rather than scaling down on the various projects, we prefer to do more and reach more people. We hope that by careful spending and increased help from contributors we can keep expanding our operation.
It is our philosophy at the British Academy that a solid education in the truths of the church, more than anything else, is what gives people an appreciation for the church. We have consistently found that those who attend BASS and receive this education are much more likely to stay connected with the church in years to come.
