The New Church

The New Church is a new Christianity based on the Old and New Testaments and the Heavenly Doctrine (also known as the Writings) revealed through Emanuel Swedenborg. The New Church is founded on the beliefs that the Lord God Jesus Christ is the one God of Heaven and earth and that true faith is not blind, but rational.

The Second Advent

The Lord has quietly come again in a new revelation! In this the Lord reveals more about Himself than has ever been known before. He also tells us how we, lovingly created by Him, can find Him and heaven in fulfilling and worthwhile lives. The Lord asks each of us to think for ourselves about what true religion is as we read His Word. This now includes the Word of His Second Advent found in the Writings for the New Church.

Swedenborg

Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) was first a scientist and then a theologian who lived in the eighteenth century. Swedenborg wrote, The Lord's second coming is taking place by means of a man, to whom He has shown Himself in person, and whom He has filled with His spirit, so that he may teach the doctrines of the New Church, which come from the Lord through the Word.

The Writings

Through His servant Emanuel Swedenborg, the Lord has revealed how angels in heaven understand the Lord's Word, according to its spiritual sense. The New Jerusalem, described in Revelation 21, symbolizes a new church that will be truly Christian. The books of the Heavenly Doctrine (also known as the Writings) reveal the inner or spiritual meaning of the Old and New Testaments.
